Adam is a photographic and multi-media investigation of homelessness in the UK. It focuses on the story of Adam Plummer, a 54-year-old man who has been living on the streets of Bedford since 2020, and who is waiting to secure adequate housing within the city. Adam’s story is tough, complex, marked by trauma, by medical conditions and substance misuse issues, which have pushed him into a state of homelessness and crisis. Through my work, I have attempted to engage with him on a human level, and to tell his story, or rather a small part of his story, in order to raise awareness on the cause of homelessness. I hope that this effort might be helpful in finding more effective ways to help him and other people like him, to overcome their challenges, to find a level of stability in which they can start re-building their lives.
